We were founded in 1862 by the American banker, diplomat and philanthropist George Peabody, who wanted to "ameliorate the condition of the poor and needy in this great metropolis". Now, over 150 years after we were first established, we own and manage more than 27,000 homes across the capital (we only operate in London), with more than 70,000 residents. Our tenures include social housing, leasehold, shared ownership, supported housing, key-worker accommodation and commercial units. We also provide homes for market rent and outright sale to support the funding of affordable homes.
This housing stock includes properties managed by our subsidiary company CBHA, which came on board in 1996, as well as property previously owned by the Crown Estate which joined our portfolio in 2011. Gallions Housing joined the Peabody Group in January 2014, while PGM, a repairs and maintenance service came on board in October 2013.
